Milarepa mantra chanted during meditation by Zeena for CHÖKHOR DÜCHEN, 2017. In the Buddhist tradition, today is celebrated as the first teaching given by the Buddha Shakyamuni after attaining Enlightement. Any mantras recited on this day accumulate the positive merit ten million times. During the day's mantra meditations, as Zeena chanted the Milarepa mantra, birds came to listen. The Tibetan sage Milarepa, born nearly a thousand years ago, was a powerful black magician in Tibet who renounced his sorcery ways, dedicating himself to the Dharma teachings. As a result, he become fully enlightened in one lifetime. Milarepa is not only a source of inspiration to Zeena, who has also followed a similarly extreme path in life, but it is also into his lineage that she is initiated by her heart lama H.E. Ayang Rinpoche, one of the yogi lineage holders who has maintained Milarepa's teachings in pure, undiluted and unbroken form. Gratitude to H.E. Ayang Rinpoche for the image of Milarepa, Vajradhara and Vajrayogini used at the beginning of the video and for his wisdom and compassion which are boundless. Summer Solstice 2017 - Torino di Sangro, ItalyA slideshow and video from the Summer Solstice ritual can be now be seen on the NEW permanent feature 'Photo Gallery of Events and Activities' page of our website. Click on this link: http://www.zeenaschreck.com/photo-gallery.html Video clip of the ritual is below in this post. Thanks goes out to author Jamie Mason for posting this very thoughtful message in response to a correspondence he had with Zeena relating to his mother's recent death. Below you will find his kind message, and below that, the letter from Zeena to which he's responding. If there are any other requests for blessings at next week's Summer Solstice ritual, please write clearly what the blessing is for (i.e., deceased being, or sick person or animal), briefly state what the purpose of the blessing is. They will be added to the ritual.-Om Ami Dewa Hri- Jamie's message below:
The following is the email from Zeena to Jamie to which he refers: Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2017 6:30 PM Subject: Re: Letter to Zeena Schreck [pls. forward] --[BEGIN]-- Dear Jamie, Thank you for your recent letter. I appreciate your explaining the complicated and challenging upbringing you surely experienced. For now, because of the timing, I will address the issue which first inspired you to write: I'm very sorry for what you are experiencing surrounding news of your estranged mother's death (which is now over a month ago) and the accompanying hostility from family. I understand and empathize with your mixed emotions about your mother's passing, a once in a lifetime experience. Such dysfunctional family situations are especially difficult at the time of death, when unexpected behavior among family inevitably arises and emotions are raw. Nonetheless, right now, your mother's consciousness is still wandering within the 49 day transition between this life and where she will take form next. Her Bardo phase will end approximately on June 29, so her consciousness is still able to perceive faint traces of this world, and connections to it, albeit it with more difficulty with each passing day. However, she can still be contacted. So it was very fortunate that you happened to make contact at this time and that the time coincided with this Summer Solstice ritual. The mother-child bond is very revered within the Tibetan tantric practices and teachings. With applied focus techniques I've learned from my heart lamas (the old-school first-generation of exiled lamas), I will focus especially on the aspect of dissolving the karmic sources of pain and suffering on both of your sides so that there should be no clinging to resentments, animosities or hostilities. Such destructive emotions only cause worse problems for all concerned. There is nothing more she can do to you now. Now you are in a stronger position to be for her what she couldn't be for herself or others. The part of the ritual where I do the blessings and release for the deceased will occur at roughtly 9:45PM CET, which would be about 12:45PM PST. It would be good if you could simultaneously perform whatever mind clearing meditation that you know, focusing on only peaceful thoughts. If it helps stabilize your visual field, and the mind from wandering, use the support of a white candle flame to gaze upon, allowing yourself to become relaxed within the warmth of the flame for several minutes, keeping the breath even and relaxed. From that warmth, allow peaceful, loving thoughts to emanate for your mother, visualizing her perfected self, free of the defilements she had in worldly life. Then visualize her being absorbed within the Pure Light, released from cyclic suffering and uncontrollable rebirth. Try to not think but just experience non-judgmental loving-kindness. This is one reason why these practices are called "the Heroic Path." Because to emanate loving-kindness, especially to those who've hurt us most, requires a heroic constitution, carried out from a place of strength, understanding and compassion. May you have Peace within the Eye of the Storm, Om Mani Padme Hum Zeena --[END]-- Jamie Mason's books are available online and personal writings on his blog at https://jamiescribbles.wordpress.com/

On May 23, 1967 Zeena made her international debut as performance-artist at the first public satanic baptism, orchestrated by her parents' in-house carnival show. By Brett Buchanan for Alternative Nation, Jul 25, 2016 - Frances Bean Cobain recently made a post on Instagram showing the legendary image of Zeena from the Geraldo Rivera 1988 Satanism special. The post explained why Bean-Cobain is ‘fascinated’ with Satanists. She wrote in her answer: “Zeena Schreck LaVey[...] (I’m not a satanist but I find them fucking fascinating).”
Frances Bean Cobain obviously didn't know that Zeena renounced satanism AND the name LaVey before Frances was even born! If Zeena Schreck is why she's "fascinated with Satanists", hopefully she knows too that Zeena's been a practicing Buddhist for ages - after she ditched her charlatan dad and his plastic devil horns. In any case, we wish Frances the best and hope she can find peace from a tumultuous family history in the same way that Zeena has. Article at: /www.alternativenation.net/frances-bean-cobain-on-why-she-is-fascinated-with-satanism/ Zeena translates a study on the language of Buddhists. By Tony SokolA recent study found that people being exposed to Buddhist concepts can make them more socially accepting of outside behavior and undermine prejudice. The study, “Buddhist Concepts as Implicitly Reducing Prejudice and Increasing Prosociality” was led by Stanford University researchers from Belgium and Taiwan. It was published in the April issue of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. The study supplements research about a phenomenon called priming, which theorizes that merely being exposed to certain words or concepts changes the way people think or behave. The researchers conducted three separate experiments of 355 individuals. They found that being exposed to words related to Buddhism could “automatically activate prosociality and tolerance, in particular among people with socio-cognitive open-mindedness.” Zeena Schreck is an artist, musician, author, animal rights activist and Tantric Buddhist in the Nyingma, Drikung Kagyu, Karma Kagyu lineages (also known as the “Oral Lineage” or Whispered Transmission traditions). “We usually only attribute the familiar phrase ‘You are what you eat’ to edible nutrition, but the phrase also relates to mental nutrition,” Zeena began. “If you only put ‘junk-food’ into your mind, it becomes flabby and unhealthy. You will see everything in a nihilistic ‘glass half empty’ view, develop feelings of paranoia, persecution or entitlement and your resentment towards others will grow to a crippling degree.” “But if you ‘ingest’ healthy, life affirming and spiritually nutritious thoughts, you become those thoughts, without needing to be preachy about it or making a show of righteousness and virtuousness,” she said. The study points out that Buddhist practices like meditation foster an open-minded and compassionate viewpoint. “The tantric Buddhist practice of utilizing mantras to liberate the mind from disturbing emotions, conditioning and limitations for the greater purpose of spiritual Enlightenment, can have immediate positive effect on even those new to the techniques,” Zeena said. “I’ve seen this personally when teaching these practices in my workshops and retreats. The effect experienced by the participants after a long mantra meditation session is visible in their faces and bodies. They appear more peaceful, centered and alert.” The researchers studied the reactions of Western subjects who were familiar with Buddhism when they read religious words like “Dharma” and “Nirvana” in a word puzzle. The researchers found the participants expressed lower negative attitudes toward outgroups than the subjects who were exposed to positive non-religious words like “freedom.” “Like mantras, the Buddhist related words used in this study, such as Dharma and Nirvana, also have a vibrational ‘weight,'” explained Zeena. “The energy of these religio-magical terms comes from centuries of priming and charging by beings who used them to express spiritual bliss, love, compassion, liberation and enlightenment.” “Words, like symbols, are not superficial. There is an intrinsic energy and life to all words. So a religious word such as Dharma or Nirvana, to an intelligent person who knows the basic meaning, will have a very different subliminal effect than non-religiously-primed, secular words such as ‘freedom,'” she continued. The study found that Westerners with a Christian background scored higher on prosociality measures after being exposed to Buddhist concepts, but the research found that the measure of prosociality did not increase after subjects were to Christian concepts. “I would suggest that this has something to do with the non-dualistic mental attitude and approach of Buddhism in contrast to the dualistic mindset of monotheistic, specifically Abrahamic, religions,” Zeena interpreted. “To my experience as a tantric Buddhist, Buddhism actively discourages a morally superior attitude between the various schools of Buddhism and its practitioners. Causing division among the Sangha is one of the Five Heinous Crimes of Buddhism.” The study found that “unlike Christian and other monotheistic religious systems that paradoxically seem to encourage not only prosociality but also prejudice, Buddhist ideas favor both prosociality and outgroup tolerance, and these ideals seem particularly efficient (in leading to action) for people with relevant personality dispositions.” “We are taught that each and all of the various schools and vehicles of Buddhism are important elements of the greater Buddha-Dharma teachings,” Zeena said. “This expansive, inclusive and non-judgmental mindset is inbuilt to the religious teachings and practices. They are the basis by which the same mentality toward all beings should be understood. By contrast, among the various sects and denominations of Christianity, division, contention, segregation and judgment is prevalent and not especially discouraged.” Buddhism does not draw a sharp line between believers and unbelievers like the three dominant monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Subjects with a Christian background who were predisposed to valuing the welfare of all people and an aversion towards authoritarianism reportedly became more tolerant after being exposed to Buddhist concepts. Tests imply that these subjects were less prejudiced against people of African descent and Muslims than participants exposed to Christian concepts or neutral concepts. “Emotional (compassion) and cognitive (tolerance of contradictions) mechanisms explain, to some extent, how Buddhist concepts, across cultural and religious contexts, enhance prosocial and tolerant attitudes and behavioral tendencies. Religious and cultural characteristics ‘travel’ and influence people’s attitudes and behavior in a globalized world even at the implicit level of consciousness,” the study concluded. “The Dharma practitioner learns to consider his or her words and thoughts and apply mental antidotes to negative thoughts and speech,” Zeena said. “In developing this kind of awareness whenever possible, transformation is immediately possible. Replacing any negative thought with a time-tested traditional mantra will automatically and organically begin to transform body, spirit and life.” [Original from Daily Offbeat at author Tony Sokol archives: https://deyliveaccestv.wordpress.com/2015/12/06/study-finds-buddhist-compassion-is-contagious-zeena-schreck-explains-why-exclusive/]

John Murphy, pioneering music veteran of Experimental Post-Punk and Proto Industrial genres, shed his mortal coil on October 11, 2015.Anyone who knew John Murphy, knew him as the 'quiet one', the one who was never arrogant or scene-stealing. He was happy to stay settled behind his drum set, playing for and collaborating with an array of artists. Although his musical career spanned four decades, one is hard pressed to find the same abundance of images of John as for other musicians. He came out of the 70s Melbourne Little band scene and was instrumental in the development of experimental, post-punk and proto-industrial music. Although he was percussionist to many bands, a quick search through music videos shows that he's usually obscured or conspicuous by his absence. As a photographer, it was a rare opportunity and privilege for me to be able to capture John for an exclusive portraiture photo shoot last year. The session was at NK in Berlin during a rehearsal for an upcoming performance with Nikolas Schreck. Some of the photos I took that day illustrate this tribute and memorial to John. You are welcome to share them, with photo credit to my name, Zeena Schreck. Many who worked with John knew he had been struggling with illness for quite a long time. But he concealed exactly how ill he already was. Music was his entire life and it was clear that the thought of retirement, or resting out the illness, was not an option in John's mind. I was therefore very fortunate to have John perform with me earlier this year at WGT. It was a musical ritual invocation to Seth, the ancient Egyptian god who guides safe passage through death to immortality. It was to be John's second to last performance. On the night and early morning of John's passing, he was not alone. He was surrounded by a lot of love from his wife, Annie, and a small circle of close friends. I was among them. At his request, and according to his religious beliefs as a Gnostic Christian-Tibetan Buddhist, I conducted the customary Tibetan tantric Buddhist and ancient Gnostic Sethian transference of consciousness rites which bridged his passage from this waking dream reality into the ultimate reality of pure light. It was a peaceful process. John is now liberated from all pain and suffering. Awake in peace, You-whose-Face-is-behind; in peace, You-who-sees-behind; in peace, Ferryman of the sky; in peace, Ferryman of Nut; in peace, Ferryman of the gods; in peace. John Murphy has come to you that you may ferry him in that ferry with which you ferry the gods. OM AMI DEWA HRI -Zeena Schreck

Description:
The workshop opens with traditional group Vajrayana prostrations, recitation of the short Refuge Prayer and short Vajradhara Mahamudra Lineage prayer, followed by a teaching lecture by Zeena relevant to this month's theme. There's a short break after the lecture and the workshop resumes with a mantra chanting session, utilizing both struck (audible sound vibration resulting from friction between or striking of two forms of matter) and unstruck (thought vibration/the sound of the celestial realm) mantra meditation practices. This month's mantra will be to Green Tara: Oṃ Tāre Tuttāre Ture Svāhā / Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha Following the mantra chanting session, participants settle into a silent seated meditation of calm-abiding and stilling of the internal monkey-chatter thoughts. Both the mantra meditation and the meditation of calm-abiding are necessary foundations for all other forms of advanced spiritual practices. When performed together with one's teacher, these meditations build an important connection to the generations of lineage holders who have transmitted the same methods to your own teacher. For this reason, meditation together with the teacher produces stronger results than only meditating alone. The workshop concludes with a Questions & Answers period.
